Preschool Registration
The Ware Early Childhood Program invites families to register their child for preschool at the SMK Elementary School. Registration begins on April 1, 2024 and will close on May 1, 2024. The program is tuition free and offered to families who reside in the Town of Ware. Please note a lottery system will be used to determine placement in the program and families will be notified of their student's placement. Anyone who is not offered a placement will be placed on a waitlist. Thank you for your interest in our program.
*Please see below for details regarding our preschool program.
Please email any question or concerns regarding preschool registration to Kelly Walsh at [email protected].
The Lottery
A lottery drawing will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 to determine placement in the program. You will be contacted through email informing you if your child has been chosen. Students not chosen in the lottery for the allotted spaces will be placed on a waiting list in the order they are chosen. Once a student is enrolled in the program, they will remain in it until they transition to Kindergarten.
If you have more than one student to enroll in the Early Childhood Education Program and one student is chosen from the lottery, your other student(s) will automatically be given a placement.
Preschool
Preschool programs operate Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday (there is no programming on Wednesdays) and are half day sessions; morning (8:45-11:30 a.m.) or afternoon (12:30-3:00 p.m.).
Age Requirement
Students must turn 3 years old on or before August 31, 2024 to be eligible for the program.
Transportation
It is the parent's/guardian’s responsibility for transportation to and from the Ware Early Childhood Program.
Attendance
It is strongly recommended that your child's attendance in the Early Childhood Education Program be consistent for them to get the most out of the learning experience. If your child's attendance is not consistent, with unexcused absences, placement in the program may be jeopardized and their place may be given to the next child on the waiting list.
School Year
The program is part of the Ware Public Schools and follows the district calendar, which can be found at wareps.org/For Parents/District Documents or at the SMK office.
